How much could conformity cost Indiana?

Mirroring OBBBA provisions could leave Hoosier households and service providers to do more with far less.

Indiana's revenue forecast was challenged by a nearly $2.4 billion shortfall in 2025, pushing lawmakers to trim spending in places where Hoosiers and their families could least afford it. Now, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act introduces a new slate of income tax deductions that, if mirrored at the state level, will exacerbate the problem. In this webinar, experts from the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy will share their research on the impact of mirroring, or conforming, with these provisions at the state level, down to the dollars and cents.

    Participants will learn:

    • The cost of mirroring various OBBBA income tax deductions at the state level
    • How advocates have seen revenue shortfalls managed by lawmakers in recent history
    • How to stay informed and engaged as advocates for Hoosier households, its social service institutions and its community development sector

    Advocacy 101: The Rules

The first webinar in a three-part series to empower nonprofit organizations and team members with the knowledge to be effective advocates in the 2026 legislative session and beyond.

501(c)(3)s play an important role in educating the public about policy issues and actions taken by elected officials. They also have the opportunity to utilize their expertise to educate elected officials, and even express preference for or against pieces of legislation. After this workshop, you will have a clear understanding of how to maximize your advocacy, the kinds of advocacy activities 501(c)(3)s can engage in, and when a communication is considered lobbying.

    Participants will learn:

    • How federal tax law permits lobbying for nonprofits
    • Activities that are and are not lobbying
    • Tips for maximizing both advocacy and lobbying under rules for nonprofits

When you do get that meeting, how do you successfully make a compelling case for your cause? This workshop will prepare you to strategically engage on the policies that interest you

    Participants will learn:

    • How to develop impactful, long-term relationships with legislators
    • The how-to's of discussing an issue and presenting your solution
